Ring care
A championship ring is heavier and more detailed than everyday jewellery, and it is built to be worn for decades. Five habits do almost all of the work.
1. Take it off before chemicals, not after
Sunscreen, insect repellent, hand sanitiser, aftershave, chlorine and seawater are what actually dull a ring, not wear. Chemical exposure is not covered by the guarantee. Ring off first, then the sunscreen.
2. Leave it in the locker
Barbells, contact sports and manual work are how stones get knocked out and shanks get bent out of round. Both are impact damage, and neither is covered by the guarantee. If you only remember one rule, make it this one.
3. Clean it with warm water and a soft brush
Warm water, one drop of mild dish soap, a soft toothbrush around the stones and the engraving. Rinse well and dry with a soft cloth. Never use an ultrasonic cleaner, and never anything with ammonia, bleach or chlorine: those attack the settings, not just the surface.
4. Brass darkens. Silver tarnishes. Both are normal
Brass develops a natural patina and sterling silver tarnishes. Neither is a fault, and both come back with a jewellery polishing cloth. Work the metal and keep the cloth off the stones. If you like the darker look, leave it.
5. Check the settings once a year and let us do the repairs
Press each stone gently with a fingernail. If one moves, stop wearing the ring and email us at red@redsrings.co before you lose it. The same goes for resizing: resizing, modification or repair by anyone other than us is not covered by the guarantee. Store the ring in its box, not loose with other rings.
The Red's Rings 30-year guarantee
We guarantee the whole ring, not selected parts. Your ring will be free from defects in materials and workmanship in normal use for thirty years.
It does not cover:
Normal wear: scratches, abrasion, dulling of the polish
Wear of plating and the natural patination of brass
Stones lost through impact or accident
Deformation from crushing or dropping
Resizing, modification or repair by anyone other than Red's Rings
Exposure to chemicals, including sunscreen and insect repellent
A championship ring is made to be passed on. This guarantee is not limited to the first owner: it stays with the ring for the full thirty years, whoever wears it. The claimant needs the original order number.
